Founded in 1994, Tradicion Peruana Cultural Center will honor their upcoming 25th Anniversary with the history and evolution of the cajon. This celebration coincides with the "Afro-Peruvian Culture Day," June 4th, which pays a tribute to the day Nicomedes Santa Cruz, one of the highest exponents of poetry and Afro-Latin American music, was born. One of the events will be the first presentation in the US of the history and evolution of the Cajon, an Afro-Peruvian instrument. The Cajon is a percussive instrument (drum), that was born in the Afro-Peruvian community on the coast of Peru with the arrival of African slaves.
